Meet the Founder
Matshidiso (Tshidi)
I never imagined that my love for a simple chocolate cake would one day grow into a thriving baking business. Before founding Glory Treats, I worked as a corporate analyst with little baking experience and no plans of becoming a bakery owner.
Like many people, I had a favourite comfort treat: a rich chocolate cake from a small local coffee shop that I regularly visited. When the owner announced the shop was closing, I felt both saddened and worried. It was the only place where I could get the cake I loved so much.
Determined not to lose my favourite dessert forever, I began my baking journey in 2022 with one goal: to recreate that chocolate cake. The process was far from easy. There were many failed attempts, countless lessons, and moments of frustration. Eventually, I reached out to the coffee shop owner and asked if she would be willing to share her recipe. To my surprise, she generously agreed, and that simple act of kindness changed my life.
Not only was I finally able to make my favourite chocolate cake at home, but soon everyone in my household became a fan of it too. As I perfected the recipe, friends and family encouraged me to share it with others. I initially believed I could build a business selling only chocolate cake because so many people loved it.
However, I quickly realised that a business built around a single product would not be sustainable. That realisation sparked a new chapter. I invested in baking courses, spent countless hours testing recipes, and dedicated myself to learning the art and science of baking. Through trial, persistence, and passion, I developed a range of recipes that reflected the quality and excellence I wanted my brand to represent.
In 2023, after much prayer and reflection, I felt God calling me to step out in faith and pursue baking full-time. Inspired by that conviction, I resigned from my corporate position and dedicated myself completely to building Glory Treats.
Since then, Glory Treats has continued to grow and flourish. What started as a quest to recreate a beloved chocolate cake has become a business dedicated to creating memorable experiences through premium cakes, desserts, and personalised gifts.
